xBRZ is a graphics upscaling routine which adopts the "scale by rules" approach, rather than the more traditional "filtered scaling" approach. This works best for pixel art, because the edges of objects remain sharp, rather than becoming blurry. The original xBRZ routine was written in C/C++ and here I have converted it to Java. The reason for doing this was for a personal project I was working on. I wanted to have a lot of graphics, that don't take up too much space, but still look good and sharp. Also, drawing pixel graphics is easiest for me, so in all, this seemed like the best solution. And who knows, maybe one day I'll convert this to C# as well. (Unless someone beats me to it.) Keep the monitor display brightness the same when the power source is changed to battery/charging

When using a laptop you usually have to adjust the screen's brightness based on the ambient lighting conditions. However, when plugging/unplugging the power supply Windows will change the brightness again. This can be a poor user experience, for example the reason for plugging it in was just to charge it, not to change the brightness. Here is a PowerShell v3.0+ script and Windows Task Scheduler config file for fixing this issue. The schedule will run at system startup, and just runs the script. The PowerShell script will register a script block to some Windows events. One is the brightness change event, so when the user manually changes the screen brightness it will save that value to a temp file. The other event is when the power supply is changed to battery/charging, it will change the value back from the saved temp file. Here's the PowerShell script, just copy this into a Notepad and save as "C:\Battery power display brightness.ps1".

Javascript Folding Pattern

There are many patterns for arranging code in Javascript, such as the Module Pattern, the Revealing Module Pattern and the Prototype Pattern. Most programmers adopt their own style based on these. After creating a project with a lot of interconnected Javascript, I slowly derived this pattern. The Folding Pattern is aware that Javascript is a functional/imperative object-oriented language that employs object prototypes rather than classes. It allows for the concept of private members, which is of importance in large projects (to combat accidental mangling of an object). By sticking to the rigorous formatting you can create very large objects which are easy to maintain and navigate. (Especially if you use an IDE which allows for folding of statement blocks.)
